While I am not expecting it to seriously challenge the Academy Award for Best Picture, we could see a scenario of craft domination by the German film.

For three reasons, Neds have grossly underrated the probability of All Quiet on the Western Front winning Best Sound.

• First, there is a similarity in who makes up the membership of both BAFTA and Academy Awards.

• Second, the winner of Best Sound at BAFTA has matched with an Oscar win in the same category 9/10 or 90% in the last 10 years.

• Third, All Quiet is the momentum riser and bookmakers have not caught up with it.

I have previously listed Top Gun as the frontrunner for Best Sound, and grabbed it as astounding prices of $5.50, which represents one of the craziest prices I've seen this awards season.

At $8 odds, All Quiet on the Western Front is double in value next compared with Sportsbet, who have the film listed at $4 to win.
