Best bets - Critics Choice Awards

Odds are up at Sportsbet for Critics Choice Awards. I’m keen on a few:

Best hair & makeup - The Whale

Sportsbet has Elvis as fave at 1.90! While Elvis is no doubt the more popular film, it hasn’t made a strong showing (in any category, really) in any of the regional critic awards.

There’s just no way Hanks’ jowls and Butler’s sideburns are a match for Fraser’s not-a-fat-suit fat suit. Ridiculous price.

Best young actor/actress - Frankie Corio (Aftersun)

Aftersun is far more of a critics’ darling than The Fabelmans. And surely her youth gives her the edge over LaBelle.

Best score - Babylon and The Batman

The narrative surrounding John Williams’ penultimate score is solid, but he’s still yet to win anything for it.

Babylon has come out strong, winning four regionals. The Batman has also won three, so that price is way off.

Babylon - $2.50, The Batman - $12.00. All markets on Sportsbet.

Composed by Justin Hurwitz, acclaim for the Babylon soundtrack is strong. Picture courtesy of Paramount Pictures

Best original screenplay - The Banshees of Inisherin

McDonagh has been cleaning up. Should be paying $1.50.

$1.90 Sportsbet

Best editing - Everything Everywhere All At Once

Sportsbet has it 2nd fave behind Top Gun: Maverick, but it’s well ahead of its competitors on the Metacritic Award Scorecard. Worth a taste.
